“The fair is a community and family event that we want to keep as an affordable choice in the current economy,” said Bob Smith, Jackson County Fair Board President. “This entertainment lineup is a key element in keeping the fair in the forefront of local entertainment options.”
“We’re really excited to present a great concert lineup at an unbelievable value,” said Melissa Damon, Jackson County Fairgrounds Event Coordinator. “Our goal was to offer people the biggest entertainment of the summer at a price that is affordable. This year’s acts reflect a variety of styles and tastes, including surf-rock, country, and current pop music. ”
Little Big Town is a country quartet featuring Kimberly Roads, Karen Fairchild, Jimi Westbrook and Phil Sweet. Founded in 1998, the group’s style relies on four-part vocal harmonies with each of the members taking lead vocals. The group has had twelve songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including “Bring It On Home” (No. 4) and “Boondocks” (No. 9).
The Beach Boys are America’s rock and roll band. Formed in 1961, the band performed at the Jackson County Fair in 2008. They are noted for their close vocal harmonies and upbeat lyrics featuring the California culture of surfing, girls and fast cars. The Beach Boys have performed for presidents and kings, with their songs soaring in popularity over the years. The band currently features founding members Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, along with John Cowsill, Tim Bonhomme, Randell Kirsch, Scott Totten, and Christian Love.
Wynonna Judd, formerly of The Judds while performing with her mother, Naomi, has been performing solo since 1991. Her first three singles, “She Is His Only Need,” “I Saw the Light,” and “No One Else on Earth,” all reached No. 1 on the U.S. Country singles charts.
Boys Like Girls is a pop band from Boston known for lively hooks and youthful enthusiasm. The group’s popularity grew online after they posted demos on MySpace, were picked up by a label, and eventually voted Spin.com’s Artist of the Year in 2007. With two studio albums to date – the self-titled Boys Like Girls and Love Drunk – the group’s “The Great Escape” reached No. 8 on the Billboard Pop 100. “Two Is Better Than One,” featuring Taylor Swift, reached No. 9 on the chart.
The Canadian rock group Loverboy has four multi-platinum albums and has sold millions of records. The band formed in 1980 and had hit singles with “Turn Me Loose,” “Working for the Weekend,” “Hot Girls in Love,” “Queen of the Broken Hearts,” This Could Be The Night,” and “Heaven In Your Eyes.” Their second album, Get Lucky, reached No. 7 on the Billboard charts and sold over four million copies.
